Hennadiy Kernes

Hennadiy Kernes was a Ukrainian politician who held prominent positions in the city of Kharkiv. Born in 1959, he embarked on a career in politics that would span several years. Prior to his mayoral tenure, Kernes served as the secretary of the Kharkiv City Council, gaining experience in municipal governance.

Kernes' most notable role was as the mayor of Kharkiv, a position he held from 24 November 2010 until his death. As the 5th mayor of the city, he was responsible for overseeing various aspects of urban development and administration. Kernes remained in this office until his passing on 16 December 2020, leaving behind a legacy of public service in Ukraine's second-largest city.
