Hakham

вчений титул в юдаїзмі

Hakham is a term used in Judaism to describe a wise or skillful individual, often referring to a great Torah scholar. This title is bestowed upon those who have demonstrated exceptional knowledge and understanding of Jewish scripture and tradition. The term is not limited to Jewish individuals, as it can also be applied to any cultured and learned person who has expressed wise thoughts or ideas.

In certain Jewish communities, particularly in Sephardic traditions, the term Hakham is used interchangeably with "rabbi", signifying a high level of respect and admiration for the individual's wisdom and scholarship. The Talmudic-Midrashic literature also acknowledges the wisdom of non-Jewish individuals, referring to them as hakhmei ummot ha-'olam, or wise men of the world. This recognition highlights the value placed on wisdom and knowledge in Jewish tradition, regardless of one's background or faith.
