Jason Stanley

Jason Stanley is a prominent American philosopher, born in 1969. He currently holds the position of Bissell-Heyd Chair in American studies at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, as well as an appointment in the department of philosophy. Additionally, he serves as a distinguished professor at the Kyiv School of Economics, further solidifying his academic presence.

Stanley's academic career spans multiple institutions, with previous positions held at esteemed universities such as Yale, Rutgers, the University of Michigan, and Cornell. He was a professor of philosophy at Yale University from 2013 to 2025, and prior to that, he taught at Rutgers University from 2004 to 2013, the University of Michigan from 2000 to 2004, and Cornell University from 1995 to 2000. In 2025, Stanley joined the University of Toronto, a move motivated by his concerns regarding the political climate in the United States.
