Joseph Sitruk
Joseph Haïm Sitruk was a prominent figure in the Jewish community, having served as the Chief Rabbi of France for over two decades. His tenure in this position began in June 1987 and concluded on 22 June 2008. Born in Tunis, Sitruk's early life laid the foundation for his future role as a spiritual leader.
Sitruk's personal experiences also played a significant role in shaping his life. In 2001, he suffered a stroke but made a recovery. Following this event, he adopted the additional name "Haim" in accordance with Jewish tradition. This addition to his name reflected his adherence to and respect for the customs of his faith. Throughout his career, Sitruk remained committed to his duties as Chief Rabbi, providing spiritual guidance and leadership to the Jewish community in France.
