Monte Kwinter

Monte Kwinter was a Canadian politician who served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario for over three decades. Born in 1931, he began his tenure as a Liberal member in 1985 and continued to represent his constituents until 2018. During his lengthy career, Kwinter represented two distinct ridings: Wilson Heights from 1985 to 1999, and subsequently York Centre from 1999 to 2018.

Kwinter held cabinet positions in two separate governments, first under David Peterson from 1985 to 1990, and later in Dalton McGuinty's administration from 2003 to 2007. Notably, he became the oldest person to have served as a Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) in Ontario. Although his record was nearly surpassed by Raymond Cho, who was seven months shy of matching Kwinter's feat at the time of his death in 2023, Kwinter's enduring dedication to public service left a lasting impact on the province's political landscape.
